Opening of new Hwy 25 bridge in Brainerd postponed to Nov. 10
BAXTER, Minn. – The new Highway 25 bridge over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway line in Brainerd, Crow Wing County, is set to open to all travelers on Friday, Nov. 10, reports the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The closure between Highway 210 (Washington Street) and Highway 18 was extended a week due to rainy conditions in late October. MnDOT thanks the local Brainerd Lakes community for their continued patience during the seven-month detour.
Crews replaced the old bridge with a new, wider bridge over the railroad tracks between 10th Avenue NE and Red Pine Road; resurfaced the road north and south of the bridge; and added right-turn lanes to Red Pine Road and 28th Street E.
Motorists may encounter periodic lane or shoulder closures with flaggers as crews wrap up work on the project for the season. Watch for workers and equipment, and be prepared to stop or slow down.
Crews will return in spring to complete the multi-use trail along the west side of Highway 25 from 10th Avenue NE over the new bridge to 28th Street E, establish turf and complete any other work.
