Public open house on March 20 for construction projects near Henderson
MANKATO, Minn. – The public is invited to attend an open house on Wednesday, March 20 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Henderson City Hall, 600 Main Street, to learn about the Highway 93 project and about the Sibley County Road 6 project near Henderson, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. There is no formal presentation planned, and people are welcome to arrive anytime.
Highway 93 project
Staff from MnDOT and the contractor will be present at the open house to provide more information about the Highway 93 project and answer questions.
Construction for the project is anticipated to start in early or mid-April, weather permitting, and continue through 2026, with traffic detoured during construction.
The project will include:
- Raising Highway 93 approximately eight feet, putting it one foot above historic high-water events
- Reconstruct 3.6 miles of Highway 93 from Highway 169 to Elm St. in Henderson
- Replace the Rush River Bridge
- Construct an additional overflow bridge to allow for Rush River flood relief
S.M. Hentges & Sons was awarded the project with a bid of $30,606,833.65.

Sibley County Road 6 project
The project will include grading, culvert replacements, pavement resurfacing, and erosion control.
Construction is anticipated to start April 15 (or sooner weather depending), and continue until late fall 2025, with traffic detoured during construction.
