MnDOT to host April 2 open house in Glencoe for Highway 212 roundabout project
WILLMAR, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend an in-person construction open house on Tuesday, April 2, to learn about the upcoming Highway 212 roundabout project in Glencoe. The open house will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Glencoe City Center, 1107 11th St. E., Glencoe.
There are no formal presentations and people are invited to stop by at their convenience during open house hours. MnDOT staff and the contractor will be available to answer questions about the construction phase of the project, including the timeline and detours.
MnDOT, in partnership with McLeod County, is building a single-lane roundabout at the intersection of Highway 212 and Morningside Drive in Glencoe. Work includes the addition of ADA-accessible sidewalks and a multiuse trail on all sides of the roundabout.
A detour of Highway 212 is required to complete the project (see map).
Construction is scheduled to begin May 6, weather permitting.
Project benefits and cost
Benefits of the project include improved traffic flow, and enhanced safety for drivers and pedestrians. The roundabout will slow vehicle speeds and lower the risk of serious and fatal crashes. Mathiowetz Construction is the contractor, and the project cost is approximately $5.1 million.
