POSTPONED: Public events for construction Highway 169 Aitkin to Hassman
BAXTER, Minn. – The public events to learn about 2024 construction plans and impacts on Highway 169 in Aitkin, scheduled for Tuesday, March 26, is postponed due to the major snowstorm and anticipated dangerous travel conditions across the state, reports the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
“We have opted to postpone the public events to ensure the safety of the community, our staff and guests. On behalf of MnDOT and the project team, we apologize for the inconvenience,” said Nathan Walton, project manager at MnDOT.
MnDOT will work to identify an alternate date in the near future.
This year marks the second of the two-year, $36.2 million project that will reconstruct 11 miles of road surface with a stronger, concrete overlay material; widen the shoulders (eight-feet paved and two-feet gravel); extend turn lanes; and repair or replace drainage infrastructure between the Ripple River in Aitkin and the Mississippi River north of Hassman.
