I-35 northbound off-ramp detour changes June 14 at Faribault
FARIBAULT, Minn. – Motorists traveling on Interstate 35 northbound who want to access Highways 21 or 60at Faribault will be detoured to the Rice County Road 48 off-ramp - Exit 55 (JPG) beginning June 14, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The work at the Exit 55 I-35 northbound off-ramp to County Road 48 is anticipated to be finished June 14 and the ramp will reopen to traffic to allow for this change. This ramp has been closed since April 15.
Traffic impacts, June 14 to July
The below traffic impacts are part of the two-year project that started in 2023. Work includes resurfacing 4.6 miles of I-35 in Rice County and improving ramps and bridges.
- I-35 northbound off-ramps to Highway 21 and Highway 60 closed. Traffic will take the off-ramp to County Road 48.
- I-35 southbound and northbound traffic will continue to travel in a single lane, adjacent to each, in the I-35 southbound lanes. Traffic is scheduled to shift to the northbound lanes in July.
- I-35 northbound on-ramp from Highway 60 will continue to be closed. Traffic will be directed to take Highway 60 to Highway 21 northbound. It is anticipated that this ramp will reopen to traffic in July.
Motorists should be alert of possible traffic slowdowns and backups, especially Friday-Sunday and other peak times.
