Highway 114 between Lowry and Starbuck to close July 8 for road construction

DETROIT LAKES, Minn.—Starting Monday, July 8, weather permitting, Highway 114 will close between Highway 55 in Lowry and Highway 28 in Starbuck for road construction, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Through traffic will be detoured to Highway 55 and Highway 28 until the project is completed in October.

The project will begin in the city of Lowry and crews will reconstruct Highway 114, replace underground utilities and upgrade sidewalks. Crews will also replace culverts between Lowry and Starbuck, and resurface the entire roadway from Highway 55 in Lowry to Highway 28 in Starbuck.

Business and residential access will be maintained at all times during construction. If you must use Highway 114 to access a cross street or your destination, be aware of restrictions in the areas where crews are working (i.e. you may need to enter from the south instead of the north, or vice versa). If you do not have a destination on Highway 114, please follow the signed detour route on Highway 55 and Highway 28.

Mark Sand & Gravel Co., based in Fergus Falls, Minn., is the prime contractor for the $3.2 million project. For more information and to sign up for project email updates, visit the project website at mndot.gov/d4/projects/lowry/.

All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
