Hwy 58 roundabout open to traffic in Goodhue
GOODHUE, Minn. – The roundabout on Highway 58 at Goodhue County Road 9 opened to traffic on Friday, July 5 in Goodhue, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
In addition to a roundabout being constructed in Goodhue, pedestrian and bike paths were improved through the Highway 58/County Road 9 intersection and large culverts were extended under County Road 9.
Roundabouts
Roundabouts improve safety and reduce travel time for drivers. Roundabouts decrease the number of crashes that result in death by 86% on average. They also decrease the number of crashes that cause life-altering injury by 83%.
Overall, MnDOT has 143 roundabouts on its state highway system. In southeast Minnesota, this is the 19th roundabout in the 11-county state highway system. More are scheduled to be built this summer and future years.
