Pavement rejuvenation project on highways in south central Minnesota begins July 17
MANKATO, Minn. – Motorists are advised to expect delays on Highways 22, 111, and 60 in south central Minnesota beginning Wednesday, July 17, weather permitting, as crews apply a clear pavement rejuvenator product to reduce deterioration and prolong the lifespan of the highway.
The impacted highways include the following:
- Highway 22 from New Sweden to Gaylord
- Highway 111 from Nicollet to New Sweden
- Highway 60 from Highway 14 south of Madison Lake to Waterville
Traffic will be controlled with flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should expect delays, drive with caution, and watch for workers, equipment, and traffic control devices. Drivers should slow down and be alert for loose gravel and oil in these areas.
The rejuvenator is an oil-based material that will be sprayed directly on the road surface, followed by the temporary application of a sand product. The product is used as a preventative maintenance measure that will provide a clear protective layer to reduce deterioration of the highway.
The project is expected to be complete by late July. Construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to be attentive and drive with caution in work zones where workers are present.
