Hwy 23 Milaca to Bock detour begins Monday, July 15
East of Bock to Ogilvie reopens July 12
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Those who travel on Highway 23 between Milaca and Bock should prepare for delays as the road closes and detours July 15 through mid-September, advises the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Crews will reopen the new, smoother lanes between Bock and Ogilvie on Friday, July 12, then close Highway 23 between Mille Lacs County Road 2 in Milaca and Mille Lacs County Road 1 in Bock on Monday, July 15. Motorists will detour along County Road 2 and County Road 1.
Highway 23 will remain open to those who live, work or visit those along the work zone; however, expect changes and use of alternate accesses. Hard closures will occur to replace underground pipes update the Highway 23 accesses at 100th Avenue (County Road 101) and 90th Avenue (County Road 144). Follow signs and enter/exit the nearest to your destination to avoid delays.
In mid-September, crews will resurface the road and complete any remaining work under traffic between County Road 2 and County Road 24. Travelers will encounter alternate one-way traffic with flaggers and pilot car.
When all lanes open in early October, motorists will benefit from a smoother road surface, updated drainage, and improved access and safety along 12 miles of Highway 23.
