Hwy 22 and Augusta Drive roundabout project in Mankato begins July 29
MANKATO, Minn. – Construction of a multi-lane roundabout at the intersection of Hwy 22 and Augusta Drive in Mankato is expected to begin Monday, July 29, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Motorists can expect traffic delays and congestion, especially during peak travel times.
The project includes constructing a dual-lane roundabout at the intersection of Hwy 22 and Augusta Drive, constructing new trail, and realigning existing trails.
Hwy 22 from Blue Earth County Road 26 to Victory Drive will be closed during construction. (A map of the construction work zone and detour routes is attached).
- Northbound Hwy 22 traffic will be detoured to Hwy 14 and Blue Earth Co.Rd. 12 (589th Ave.) and 26.
- Southbound Hwy 22 traffic will be detoured to Riverfront Drive in Mankato and Hwy 14.
- Access to businesses will remain open via Victory Drive, Premier Drive, Power Drive, and Augusta Drive during construction.
Construction on the roundabout project is expected to be complete in early October. All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to be attentive and drive with caution in work zones where workers are present.
Benefits of the project include enhanced safety for motorists and pedestrians and improved traffic flow. BCM Construction was awarded the project with a bid of $2,597,473.00.
