All lanes open on Highway 169 south of Garrison
BAXTER, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation is excited to announce that roadwork is nearly complete, and all lanes are open to travelers on Highway 169 along west Mille Lacs Lake, south of Garrison.
Work began in May to resurface and improve seven miles of Highway 169 from Crow Wing County Road 26 to a half-mile north of Ojibwe Drive. Crews replaced three culverts, added new left-turn lanes at County Road 25 (Timber Trail Road) and Swing-A-Way/South Port and upgraded guardrails.
Due to material delays, crews will return in mid-August to install street lighting. Motorists may encounter minimal lane or shoulder closures as crews wrap up work on the project. Watch for workers and equipment, and be prepared to stop or slow down.
MnDOT thanks the public for their patience during the project that provides a smoother road surface, improved drainage and improved traffic flow and safety on Highway 169.
