Interstate 94 to temporarily close between Alexandria and Osakis tonight
DETROIT LAKES, Minn.—Starting at 9:30 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 5, Interstate 94 will close in both directions between Alexandria and Osakis while the beams for the current bridge replacements are delivered and installed, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured to Highway 29, County Road 82 and Highway 27. It will last for approximately three hours.
This section of I-94 is currently head-to-head for road construction. This year’s project includes replacing the two westbound bridges over the railroad and over County Road 23, repairing three additional westbound bridges between Alexandria and Osakis, and 12-plus miles of concrete paving. In 2025, crews will replace the eastbound bridges over the railroad and County Road 23.
