I-35 Hinckley construction traffic to shift
DULUTH, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be shifting traffic as project work continues in Hinckley. The northbound I-35 ramps to and from Highway 48 are expected to reopen on Saturday, August 10.
Starting on August 16, the northbound lanes of I-35 are expected to reopen with single lane traffic in each direction for about a week. Traffic will then be placed in a head-to-head pattern, shifting between the northbound and southbound roadways within the project limits. At this time, work will begin on the southbound Grindstone River bridge.
Motorists should always be prepared to encounter traffic changes when approaching work zones including lane closures, lane shifts, uneven road surfaces, slow-moving heavy equipment and slow or stopped traffic.
This two-year project will include four bridge replacements and pavement resurfacing. For maps and general project information, please visit the project website here: https://www.dot.state.mn.us/d1/projects/hinckley-bridge.
