Highway 25 bridge to close four overnights in Monticello
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation advises motorists to plan ahead and add time onto their commute as the Highway 25 Mississippi River bridge in Monticello closes four overnights to complete concrete deck work between Aug. 14–22.
Highway 25 will close between River Street and Sherburne County Road 11/14 in Monticello. Traffic will detour (Figure 1) along I-94 Monticello, Highway 101 Rogers to Elk River and Highway 10 Big Lake.
The weeknight closures will occur as follows:
Aug. 14–16
- 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, to 5 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15
- 8 p.m. Thu, Aug. 15, to 5 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16
Aug. 20–22
- 8 p.m. Tue, Aug. 20, to 5 a.m. Wed, Aug. 21
- 8 p.m. Wed, Aug. 21, to 5 a.m. Thu, Aug. 22
Dry weather conditions are necessary to complete this work and the schedule is subject to change.
For current closure information: watch area work zone road signs; check www.511mn.org travel system; or visit the Highway 25 project web page at www.mndot.gov/d3/projects/monticello/.
Work continues on the Highway 25 bridge and the road remains reduced to one lane, each direction, 24-7, through the work zone between Third Street and northeast of Sherburne County Road 11/14 through late October 2024.
Travelers who commute frequently between Interstate 94 in Monticello and Highway 10 in Big Lake or Becker will want to consider alternate Mississippi River crossings in central Minnesota—Highway 24 Clear Lake to Clearwater to the north and Highway 101 Elk River to Rogers to the south.
When complete in late October, the $2.6 million bridge improvement project will provide travelers with a smoother ride, widened sidewalks and updated storm water drainage.
