Crews to completely close Hwy 101 at Purgatory Creek
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Now through early September, crews will completely close Highway 101 at Purgatory Creek in Chanhassen and Eden Prairie, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Workers had planned to keep the highway partially open to local traffic. However, due to safety concerns for both drivers and workers, the road is being completely closed between Choctaw Circle and Sandy Hook Road/Lotus View Drive while improving drainage at Purgatory Creek. Residents in the project area will continue to have access to their homes.
The Aug. 24-25 Hwy 101 closure scheduled between Fox Hollow Drive and Duck Lake Trail for roadwork has been postponed.
In June, Highway 101 in both directions, between Highway 5 in Chanhassen and County Road 62 in Eden Prairie, closed to regional traffic and is only open to traffic seeking a destination within the project area.
All drivers will follow a posted detour (PNG). Northbound drivers will be routed to Highway 7, west to Highway 41; south to Highway 5; and east to Highway 101. Southbound drivers will be routed to Highway 5, west to Powers Boulevard; north to Highway 7; and east to Highway 101.
Crews began work on the Highway 101 project in June and will complete the project in late October 2024.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change.
As part of the project, in partnership with the cities of Chanhassen and Eden Prairie, crews will repave two miles of road between County Road 62 in Eden Prairie and Highway 5 in Chanhassen. Workers will also reconstruct the adjacent trail; add pedestrian crossing signals at Valley View Road and Twilight Trail; improve accessibility of ramps and signals; fix shoulders; and repair drainage issues at Purgatory Creek.
