Resurfacing project begins on Hwy 2 in Cass Lake Sept. 9
Motorists will see short-term lane closures, delays and flagger operations
BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced today a resurfacing project on Highway 2 in Cass Lake beginning on September 9. Construction crews will resurface Highway 2 from east of Highway 371 to east of Cass County Road 206.
The contractor for the $677,000 project is Hawkinson Construction. The project will be completed under traffic, and flaggers will guide motorists through the single-lane construction zone. It is expected to be complete by late September, and will create a smoother, safer driving surface. The project also includes sidewalk and curb ramp upgrades at Grant Utlet Avenue and Maple Avenue.
Important reminders for motorists regarding work zone safety:
- Slow down when approaching every work zone, then navigate through with care and caution.
- Stay alert; work zones constantly change.
- Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment.
- Obey posted speed limits. Fine for a violation in a work zone is $300.
- Minimize distractions behind the wheel.
- Be patient; expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
