Eastbound Hwy 14 bridge over Hwy 22 in Mankato temporarily closed for three days starting Thursday night, August 29
MANKATO, Minn. – The eastbound Hwy 14 bridge over Hwy 22 in Mankato will be temporarily closed for approximately three days starting late Thursday night, August 29, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Motorists can expect traffic delays, especially during peak travel times.
Crews will place concrete for the new bridge deck on Friday. The short-term detour is necessary to allow the newly poured concrete time to cure and achieve strength. The left lane of eastbound Hwy14 across the bridge is expected to reopen to traffic on Monday, September 2.
Northbound Hwy 22 at Hwy 14 remains closed during construction, and traffic is detoured to Hwy 14, Blue Earth Co. Rd. 12 (589th Avenue), and Blue Earth County Road 26 (227th Street).
The bridge was struck and damaged by a commercial vehicle in January requiring repairs to the bridge fascia beam, portions of the bridge rail, and deck.
Repairs to the bridge are expected to be complete in early October. All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to be attentive and drive with caution in work zones where workers are present.
Lunda Construction Company was awarded the project with a bid of $358,519.00.
