Wadena community asked to try set-up and take survey by Sept. 27

BAXTER, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites those who walk, bike or drive through downtown Wadena to try out a temporary intersection set-up on Highway 71/Jefferson Street South at Bryant Avenue and take an online survey at www.mndot.gov/d3/projects/wadena/.
Here’s what travelers can expect as they travel though the temporary intersection:

  • Traffic signal at the Highway 71 and Bryant Avenue intersection is turned off and partially removed.
  • Stop signs placed on Bryant Avenue at Highway 71; the intersection functions as a through- or two-way stop.
  • Flashing pedestrian signals at Bryant Avenue and Aldrich Avenue with extended sidewalk approaches, which prompts motorists to stop for those crossing Highway 71.

MnDOT uses temporary set-ups, also known as demonstration projects, to test designs for future construction projects and make improvements for travelers. Feedback from the community on how they experience the project is important and the survey results will assist MnDOT to configure the intersection in the 2025 project.

The survey is open through Friday, Sept. 27. Visit the Wadena project web page to take the survey, learn more about the project and to sign up for project email updates for 2025–2026 construction on Highway 10/29/71 at www.mndot.gov/d3/projects/wadena/.
MnDOT invites and encourages participation by all. If you need an ASL, foreign language interpreter, or other reasonable accommodation, or need documents in an alternative format (such as braille or large print), please email your request to Janet Miller at ADArequest@state.mn.us or call 651-366-4720.
