Repairs to eastbound Hwy 14 bridge over Hwy 22 in Mankato nearing completion
Northbound Hwy 22 at Hwy 14 in Mankato opens to traffic September 20
MANKATO, Minn. – Repairs to the eastbound Hwy 14 bridge over Hwy 22 in Mankato are nearing completion, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Northbound Hwy 22 at Hwy 14 in Mankato is expected to open to traffic sometime on Friday, September 20.
Eastbound Hwy 14 over Hwy 22 in Mankato will remain reduced to one lane until repairs to the bridge are complete. Additionally, eastbound Hwy14 over Hwy 22 will be temporarily closed overnight on both September 23 and 24 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. as crews remove temporary concrete barriers and replace a seal across both lanes of the bridge. Traffic will be routed to the eastbound Hwy 14 exit and entrance ramps. Repairs to the bridge are expected to be complete in late September.
The bridge was struck and damaged by a commercial vehicle in January requiring repairs to the bridge fascia beam, portions of the bridge rail, and deck.
Lunda Construction Company was awarded the project with a bid of $358,519.00.
MnDOT reminds motorists that Hwy 22 from Victory Drive to Blue Earth Co.Rd. 26 in Mankato remains closed to traffic until early October for construction of a dual-lane roundabout at Hwy 22 and Augusta Drive.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to be attentive and drive with caution in work zones where workers are present.
