Learn the latest updates about I-35/I-90 corridor study in Albert Lea Oct. 23
ALBERT LEA, Minn. – The public is invited to attend a public information meeting on Oct. 23 in Albert Lea to learn the latest updates about the Interstate 35/Interstate 90 corridor study, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Join us any time from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the Albert Lea City Hall, 221 East Clark Street, Albert Lea, MN, 56007. No formal presentation is planned. People attending the meeting can learn more about the latest plans for the I-35/I-90 and I-35/Main Street interchanges. The project team is reviewing and evaluating alternative interchange options within the corridor. Individuals unable to attend are encouraged to learn about the project through the project website.
Funding at this time is only available to replace the I-90 bridges over I-35 and make ramp improvements in 2030. MnDOT is reviewing if other improvements are needed, and how funding could work. Motorists have identified:
- Weaving conflicts in the I-35 and I-90 interchange and on I-35 between Hwy 65 and I-90.
- Rollovers and road departure crashes on the interchange loops and ramps.
- Crashes on Main Street at the I-35 ramp intersections.
- Truck acceleration at the northbound on-ramp from Main Street.
- Condition of other bridges and drainage structures.
- Blowing and drifting snow
MnDOT invites and encourages participation by all. If you need an ASL, foreign language interpreter, or other reasonable accommodation, or need documents in an alternative format (such as braille or large print), please email your request to Janet Miller at ADArequest.dot@state.mn.us or call651-366-4720 or 1-800-657-3774 (Greater Minnesota); 711 or 1-800-627-3529 (Minnesota Relay).
