New eastbound I-94 lane and ramp closures in Washington County begin Nov. 2
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will encounter new lane and ramp closures on Interstate 94 between Oakdale and Woodbury when construction crews shift eastbound traffic back to the east side of the interstate and construct a concrete median, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Beginning at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, eastbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane overnight between Century Avenue and Woodbury Drive while crews shift traffic to the newly repaved eastbound I-94. By 5 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, eastbound I-94 will reopen to two lanes on this segment of the interstate. Both directions of I-94 will be reduced to two lanes until the middle of November while crews construct a new center median.
The following eastbound I-94 ramps are anticipated to reopen to traffic by 5 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3:
- The ramp from Century Avenue to eastbound I-94
- The ramp from northbound I-494 to eastbound I-94
- The ramp from eastbound I-94 to Radio Dr./Inwood Ave. North
- The ramps from Radio Dr./Inwood Ave. North to eastbound I-94
Then, to allow crews to construct a concrete median under the I-94/I-494/I-694 interchange, the following I-94 entrance and exit ramps will be closed to traffic starting at 5 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7 through Wednesday, Nov. 13:
- The ramp from westbound I-94 to southbound I-494
- The ramp from northbound I-694 to westbound I-94
Motorists can bypass these ramp closures using the 10th Street interchange.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
MnDOT will be resurfacing the pavement and making other improvements to I-94 between Highway 120/Century Avenue and the St. Croix River through fall 2024. The work will improve safety, traffic flow and ride smoothness.
