Highway 108 east reopens in Pelican Rapids
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. .— Highway 108 east in the city of Pelican Rapids has been reopened to all traffic, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Motorists should be alert for workers who are finishing final touches for the season, as well as removing traffic control devices in town and along detour routes.
The reopening of Highway 108 east marks the completion of year one of road construction on Highway 59 and Highway 108 east and west in Pelican Rapids. This year, crews focused mostly on Highway 59 in downtown Pelican Rapids, and a portion of Highway 108 east. In 2025, when weather allows in the spring, construction will resume on the remaining stages on Highway 59 and Highway 108 east and west.
The overall project includes resurfacing, constructing roundabouts at the two intersections of Highway 59 and Highway 108, a shared-use path, sidewalk upgrades and replacing more than 20 blocks of city utilities.
MnDOT wants to thank the entire Pelican Rapids community for their patience, cooperation and commitment to safety throughout the 2024 construction season.
