Highway 14 closure, detour rescheduled to March 3-7 for railroad bridge repair west of Eyota
EYOTA, Minn. – Highway 14 motorists west of Eyota will be detoured March 3-7 as crews repair a railroad bridge over the highway, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The work was originally scheduled Feb. 17-21. It has been rescheduled due to the cold temperatures that are forecasted the week of Feb. 17.
A contractor for the Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern Railway will be repairing the bridge that crosses over Highway 14 about 2 miles west of Eyota. During the repair work, the highway will be closed to through traffic. Traffic will be detoured north of Eyota on Highway 42 and west on Olmsted County Road 9 and then south on Olmsted County Road 11 (50th Avenue Southeast) to Highway 14 east of Rochester. Local traffic will be able to use Highway 14 to reach their residences, businesses and Chester Woods Park, but the road is closed at the bridge.
Crews plan to close the highway by 9 a.m., Monday, March 3 and reopen by 4 p.m., Friday, March 7. The work could be postponed due to weather. New dates would be announced if there was a weather postponement. Advanced warning signs with information about the planned work will be put in place on Highway 14 prior to the start date.
