Highway 23 and Highway 71 left-turn lane project completed
WILLMAR, Minn. – The detour for Highway 23 near Raymond was removed June 27 and the detour for Highway 71 near Svea was removed at 3 p.m. today as the project has reached majority completion, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. A left-turn lane was constructed for both east and westbound traffic at Highway 23 and County Road 1, northeast of Raymond. Also, a left-turn lane was constructed for both north and southbound traffic at Highway 71 and County Road 3 near Svea.
Although both roads have reopened to traffic, travelers should be alert for equipment and workers completing punch list items and clean up tasks.
Benefits of the project include space for left-turning vehicles and enhanced safety. Central Specialties, Inc., is the primary contractor, and the project cost is approximately $2.18 million.
