MnDOT “Mega Maintenance” project wraps up this weekend with eastbound I-694 closure from Shingle Creek Parkway in Brooklyn Center to Snelling Avenue in Arden Hills
ROSEVILLE, Minn. —More than six miles of eastbound Interstate 94 will close this weekend between Shingle Creek Parkway in Brooklyn Center and Snelling Avenue in Arden Hills. Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will close the eastbound interstate for intensive maintenance activities through 5 a.m. Mon, Aug. 4. All ramps to and from the interstate along eastbound I-694 will close starting at 7 p.m. Friday and there will also be no access to the eastbound interstate from cross streets in the project area. During the eastbound I-694 closure, motorists will detour on Highway 169, Highway 610, Hwy 10 and I-35W.
At the same time, the ramps from northbound and southbound I-35W to eastbound I-694 will close. Drivers are encouraged to use Hwy 36 and I-35E to reach eastbound I-694. Access from southbound I-35W and the eastbound Hwy 10 diagonal to Snelling Avenue and eastbound I-694 will remain open in Arden Hills.
The weekend closure will allow multiple MnDOT maintenance crews to:
- inspect and repair bridge decks,
- Repair and restripe pavement,
- clean and repair storm sewer drainage structures,
- remove vegetation,
- repair and replace lighting and
- remove graffiti on bridges and walls.
