Riverside Avenue bridge closure in Minneapolis begins Aug. 4

Motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists will encounter a closure and detour of the Riverside Avenue bridge over Interstate 94 for up to two weeks starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 4, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The Riverside Avenue bridge will be closed through Monday, Aug. 18 to allow crews to safely complete bridge maintenance work along eastbound I-94. Motorists will be directed to use the 25th Avenue S. bridge as their detour.

All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.

When construction is completed in fall 2025, five bridges along I-94 will have a smoother and safer riding surface.
