Highway 212 J-turn safety project in Norwood Young America begins May 4

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The Highway 212 J-turn project between Highway 5/Highway 25/County Road 131 in Young America Township and Highway 5/Highway 25/Reform Street in Norwood Young America begins at 7 a.m., Monday, May 4, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Crews will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction throughout the project area while constructing J-turns and removing the center median crossing to improve safety.

Workers will begin at the Wells Avenue and West Railroad Street intersections, where access to and from Highway 212 will be restricted to right-in, right-out traffic for up to six weeks.

The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2026.

Crews are improving about 2.5 miles of Highway 212 by building J-turns at Highway 5/Highway 25/County Road 131, Wells Avenue, County Road 31 and West Railroad Street. Workers will also install cable median barriers.
The J-turns will help reduce “T-bone” crashes and the cable median barriers will help reduce cross-median crashes.

All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change.

MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
