Overnight bridge closures

The Hwy 25 Mississippi River bridge will close between Co. Rd. 11/14 and River St. to complete concrete deck work. Project update Sept. 11

Detour, alternate route

• Hwy 25 detour: Hwy 101 Rogers to Elk River
• Hwy 25 alternate route: Hwy 24 Clear Lake to Clearwater

Current impacts

Lane closures through October

Hwy 25 from Third St. in Monticello to east of Sherburne Co. Rd. 11/14 south west of Big Lake:

• One lane each way, 24-7
  • Note: Reduce delays and traffic jams—Do the zipper merge—use both lanes until single-lane merge; take turns at merge
• Back-ups will occur at busy times – consider alternate Mississippi River crossings:
  • Hwy 24 Clear Lake to Clearwater to the north
  • Hwy 101 Elk River to Rogers to the south
• Use 511mn.org for current travel speeds

Monticello open

Local access open and maintained; however, expect these changes:

• River St. closed to/from Hwy 25
• Turn/through lanes modified at:
  • Sherburne Co. Rd. 11/14
  • Wright Co. Rd 75/Broadway Ave.
• Camera from 511mn.org
• Pedestrian sidewalk open on one side of the bridge only. Follow signs and stay out of closed areas

About this 2024 project

MnDOT will resurface and update the Hwy 25 bridge over the Mississippi River in Monticello, includes drainage and sidewalks.

Summary of work

• Resurface the Hwy 25 bridge deck (replace concrete wearing coarse)
• Replace approach panels and joints, along with other bridge repairs
• Widen sidewalks along both sides of the bridge
• Upgrade lighting
• Replace or repair drainage infrastructure

Future impacts, schedule

Some overnight closures will be necessary to reduce vibration on bridge to cure the concrete (only 6-9 times during project, between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.)

• Detour: I-94, Hwy 101 Rogers to Elk River and Hwy 10 or use other routes
  • Use 511mn.org for current travel speeds and road conditions on Hwy 25
