Summary of work
A six-legged roundabout has been constructed at the northbound I-35 ramps and Hwy 19 interchange. It also encompasses the intersections of Rice Co. Rd. 46 and Co. Rd. 59. Construction was completed in October 2024.
This was a local partnership project between Rice County and MnDOT. Rice County took the lead and you can find more details on their website.
Benefits of a roundabout
- Significantly reduce the risk of serious and fatal crashes
- Allows motorists to get through the intersection more safely and in less time
- Handle more traffic with less delay than most stop signs or traffic signals
- Slow traffic down to make entering and exiting the area easier for all users
