Summary of MnDOT work

  • MnDOT is reconstructing Highway 19/College Drive from 700 ft west of Marlene St through the intersection of Bruce Street in the City of Marshall.
  • The City of Marshall is replacing sanitary sewer and water main utilities.
  • A single-lane roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of Highway 19/College Drive, Country Club Drive, and South 2nd Street.
  • An EV Charging Station will be installed in the Avera parking lot.
  • Sidewalk improvements will be made along the project area to improve accessibility.
  • Several traffic control changes throughout the route will be made to enhance safety.
  • A bike lane will be striped from Marlene St. to just west of Fairgrounds Rd.
  • Trees will be replanted in the fall of 2026(PDF). Tree selections can be viewed here(PDF), please note, these are subject to change.

Project update: May 28, 2026

Work zone: Main Street to Liberty Park Bridge

  • All grading and gravel has been completed.
  • Liberty Park Bridge approach panels were poured.
  • Most of the curb and gutter has been installed.
  • Concrete paving of the roadway portion has begun.
  • ADA components have begun to be poured at the intersections.
  • Installation started on concrete sidewalks.
  • Underground electrical work continues for street lighting.

Work zone: Main Street/ East College Drive intersection (Hwy 19/Hwy 59/Hwy 68)

  • Detours for Hwy 59 and Hwy 68 started Mon., May 18. The Hwy 19 detour is in place for the duration of the project.
  • Gravel and surveying work is completed.
  • Underground electrical work has begun for the new signal system.
  • All curb and gutter work is scheduled to be complete on May 29.

Work zone: Bruce Street/ Highway 19 intersection 

  • Detour was installed on Tuesday, May 26.
  • Pavement, curb, gutter, and sidewalk removals have been completed.
  • Signal system has been removed.
  • Street lighting has been removed within the work zone.
  • Temporary water service has been installed to all affected parties.
  • Sanitary sewer installation is underway.

Work zone: Legion Field Bridge to Main St. 

  • Intermittent finishing work will be taking place.

Main Street to Liberty Park Bridge

  • Curb and gutter installation scheduled to be completed.
  • Concrete paving will continue.
  • Sidewalk accessibility work will continue.
  • Streetlight underground electrical work will continue.

Main Street/ East College Drive intersection

  • Concrete paving will start.
  • ASA work will start. 
  • Traffic signal electrical work underground will continue.
  • Traffic signal foundation work will start.

Bruce Street/ Highway 19 intersection

  • Sanitary sewer work is scheduled to be completed.
  • Storm sewer installation is scheduled to begin.

Legion Field Bridge to Main Street on Highway 19 (year 1 project area)

  • Crews will finish remaining small items. 

Traffic access and impacts

  • The Bruce St. / East College Dr. intersection will be closed.
    • Busineses are open and access cvan be from either Hwy 19 west from North 3rd St. or Hwy 19 east from Hwy 23.
    • Access across the intersection is closed.
  • Main St. to Liberty Park Bridge on Hwy 19 is closed.
    • through traffic must use the detour on Lyon CR 7 and Hwy 23.
  • Main St./Hwy 19 intersection is closed.
    • Through traffic should use CR 33 and Hwy 23
  • W. Redwood St. will be open for crossing at Hwy 19 is open.
  • W. Lyon St., and W. Marshall St. are closed at Highway 19.
  • Alleys between W. Lyon St. and W. Redwood St., and between W. Redwood St. and W. Marshall St. are closed at Highway 19.
  • W. Redwood St will be open to cross at Hwy 19.
  • Hwy 19 is open to local traffic from N. 3rd Street. to Bruce Street.
  • Businesses within the work zone remain open.
  • Addison Public Parking Lot is open
  • Please watch for pedestrians.
