Summary of work
MnDOT is planning to expand Highway 23 from west of Kandiyohi County Road 5 to Highway 71 southwest of Willmar. The project will upgrade about 3.5 miles of Highway 23 from a two-lane road to a four-lane highway. Additional work includes realigning the entrance/exit ramps to properly connect with the new eastbound lanes, installing new guardrails to meet current safety standards, inspecting and replacing drain tile crossings as needed, and constructing stormwater treatment ponds.
Traffic impacts
- A detour may be required for this project.
- Crossovers may be constructed in advance to help reduce traffic impacts.
