Traffic impacts
East 7th St. and Arcade St. project area map
All traffic impacts are tentative and weather dependent. Local access to residences and businesses will be maintained. Expect increased noise and vibration during construction. Prepare for potential changes to your typical route and parking access.
Upcoming
Information about upcoming traffic impacts will be posted as details become available. Drivers can expect intermittent intersection closures throughout the project area; however, no two consecutive intersections will be closed at the same time. Vehicles will be able to make left turns only at specific intersections during construction. People walking and rolling can expect sidewalks and boulevards to be removed and reconstructed during the project, please follow the posted detours for any closures.

- Arcade St. is closed in both directions between Neid Ln. and East 7th St.
Lane closures
Mon, April 6 through summer
- East 7th St. is reduced to one lane in both directions between Minnehaha Ave. and Mounds Blvd.

Construction activities
Crews will remove and replace existing sidewalks, roadway surfaces, traffic signals, and bus stops throughout the project area. Utility work (water, electrical, gas, etc.) will occur intermittently throughout all parts of the project area, not just where road construction is happening.
About this project
In March 2025, we began the two-year reconstruction project along East 7th St., and Arcade St. between I-94 in St. Paul and Roselawn Ave. in Maplewood. Construction on East 7th St. will occur during the 2026 construction season. When complete, the new roadway will improve traffic flow, decrease traffic delays and improve safety on the road.
