We are looking at several ideas for possible improvements along Hwy 3. Community feedback and technical analysis will help guide future decisions.
For this study, the highway corridor was split into five segments to review different design options.
Potential improvements by segment
View the potential improvements for each segment of the project area in the drop-downs below.
Segment 1: Co. Rd. 46 to Co. Rd. 42
Existing: Two-lane road with right turn lanes
Concerns: Traffic capacity and safety
Concept 1: Three-lane road with turn lanes
Benefits: Adds traffic capacity, increases safety, and improves access
Concept 2: Four-lane divided road
Benefits: Greatest traffic capacity, increases safety, restricts access, highest cost.
Potential intersection improvements:
- Four-lane road with turn-lanes at the Hwy 3 and 160th St./ Co. Rd. 46 intersection with a traffic signal or roundabout
- Potential new connection between 150th St./Co. Rd. 42 and Hwy 3 south of the existing intersection with a traffic signal or a roundabout
